ok, so i'm a few years late to be writing about this episode, but i happened to catch the first episode of the second season of the o.c. as i whiled away the snowy afternoon.

for those of you who are *not* die-hard fans, this is the season that opens with seth having spent the summer teaching kids how to sail in portland. i mean, wtf? sailing in portland? i don't remember this happening at any time during my growing-up-years in the rainy city. the portland set actually looks like they're somewhere in eastern oregon on a ranch, far from a body of water you'd sail on. as far as i know, you'd only sail on the gorge. or the sea.

i happen to be great at idealizing portland - and watching this episode made me half-assedly dream about the good memories from that year. finishing school, living on my own, working, watching a shit-ton of a.d., and not really too worried about what was happening in the next __ months.

i need my first season of arrested development back.

the great beyond

or something like that.

i'm taking suggestions for possible places i should move to (provided there's a vibrant public health job market).
